Are you often told that you are overreacting, taking things too much at heart or empathising too much with others? Then you might be a highly sensitive person, or HSP.

In this book, you will be guided through 6 main steps composed of smaller steps which will firstly help you to accept who you are. Once you got to embrace who you are, you can go to the next steps which will help you to get to know yourself, to grow yourself, be aware of how your surroundings influence you, helping you to adapt, communicate, overcome your fears and to take time for yourself in order to rest and recharge. And finally we will touch upon balancing your relationships. All these steps are aiming at improving the way your are living and leading you to happiness.
Each step is followed by self assessment questions which will help you reflect on your personal situation in relation with the new information you just obtained.

Sometimes it might seem that this world is harsh to live in when others don't understand you or your reactions. If taken seriously, the steps in this book will lead you to live a life in which you understand others better, and can be better understood too.
The best way to live with your high sensitivity or strong empathy is to accept it and learn how to live with it.

Did you know?
Highly sensitive people actually benefit from stronger skills such as creativity, intuition and can feel deeper and stronger positive emotions. You are better at tasks requiring accuracy or speed, or detecting minor differences, you are better at analysing behaviours and understanding through empathy. And the list can go on and on. The only problem is that if you don’t know how to cope with all these skills and differences you have towards other people, then instead of making your life more beautiful it will only drag you down.

This book will help you turn things around and change the way you live and see the world.

As a family member of GoldenSloth publishing I was one of the first to be able to read this book about Highly Sensitive Persons. I did not know this particular condition, but the book made me better understand hat it must be like to be an empathic. However, what I found most interesting is the general life lessons the book gives about learning and understanding yourself. I think many of the ideas, tips and questions given in the book can also be useful for less empathic or sensitive people. People like myself who want to get more out of life. I will actually apply some of the tips - like about keeping a journal, being more critical about the company I keep and coping with criticism - to understand myself and my emotions better. So I'm happy I got to read and review this book, and even though I can't be a 100% objective, I still like to express I find it excellent.

. I would highly suggest this book to anyone that struggles with a gene that is typically inherited. Most people don't know that there is actually a name for it until they get some kind of help because they feel so emotional and feel things much deeper than other people around them do in their environment and toward other people. I always knew since I was a child that I was highly sensitive because everyone said so, not only that but things hurt me much deeper than the typical child. I always felt like I was easy prey for people to pick on. There different kinds of highly sensitive people. There are introverts that are really shy and tend not to get close to people as they are very sensitive to how other people are perceiving them and their judgments. And there are people that are extrovert. I am an extrovert /introvert. This means that I do enjoy being around people and doing social activities , i'm bubbly and talkative , but then I can only take so much because my environment is overstimulating me . So when I get to this point I need to pull myself away from what I'm doing and find a place to retreat. I have to do a lot of cheerleading because usually it's fear of judgment. When Aren offered this book to me at a sample version. I could not believe how on point he was!!! I have struggled my entire life to know the meanings behind what I was feeling. At age 46 after many experiences in my life I heard about dialectical behavioral therapy. This was very helpful in giving me the tools that I needed to be skillful, "how to have a life worth living". I would highly recommend this book because it is so informational and it will teach you all of those skills that I learned in a years time in a short, yet easy almost guidelines on how to have a life worth living. His research is astounding!!! I actually found out and met him through a group which is called highly sensitive people. This group is really good for people that feel things more intensely in their bodies than other people do. And feel things in the environment that most people would not feel or recognize. Aaron lays everything out and gets the emotional side of the brain. This book will give you easy every day life skills. Skills in emotional regulation. Excepting what it is. Radical nonjudgmental stance. Comparing our self to somebody else when times are bad. Self soothing and using distraction as a way of bringing your mind back. How to shift your body chemistry when you feel like your emotions are out of control. It helps you in Improving the moment. taking a step back, observing and then proceeding mindfully. He teaches kind of what I learned in class that thoughts are just thoughts and to let them roll off like a train, it's when we ruminate about one bad thought that we can end up in a train wreck. We learned about the emotional mind, the wise mind and the reasonable mind/ The reasonable mine usually is very task focused and cold. Emotional mind are for highly sensitive people and usually hot when it comes to emotions but also can be good for people that write poems and songwriters. I think this article is really wonderful and it's a brief description and steps on how to get somebody where they need to be living in a highly sensitive state. Something I think that we do is jump to conclusions a lot about people when we don't know the facts. I think everybody should read this book!!! Aaron, IS THERE ANY WAY YOU COULD ADVOCATE TO GET THIS INTO A HEALTH CLASS? FOR THE YOUNG GENERATION? It will GIVE kids SKILLS that they NEED in life to OVERCOME so many of the OBSTACLES that will be heading their WAY and they MAY NEVER LEARN THOSE LIFE SKILLS AT HOME! THERE ATE SO MANY CHILDREN COMING FROM BROKEN HOMES. As a highly sensitive person this trait can be developed or you can be born with it when you are in your mothers womb, in the mothers womb you could've been a child that was stressed. This would teach kids not to jump to conclusion's about others, give compassion and try to put their self in the other person shoes. To be gentle and give grace. THIS BOOK IS KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PROFITABLE AS A USEFUL TOOL AND WILL HELP BRING BACK THE BASICS ON HOW TO NOT JUST DEAL WITH LIFE AS AN HSP, BUT ANY ONE WITH ANXIETY, FEARS, SELF CONSCIOUSNESS, AWKWARDNESS, LONELINESS, AND MANY OTHER EMOTIONAL ISSUES, SO CALLED "ORDINARY" PEOPLE DEAL WITH. I WISH I WOULD OF KNOWN ABOUT THIS BOOK FOURTY YEARS AGO, AS A SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL WHOS DAD JUST DIED, WHO'S MOTHER SUFFERED WITH MENTAL BREAKDOWNS. I WOULD HAVE JUMPED AT THE CHANCE TO HAVE SOMEONE TEACH ME WHAT WHAT YOU SO GRACIOUSLY RESEARCHED TO HELP PEOPLE GAIN PERSPECTIVE IN THESE TRYING TIMES. I was just thinking of how many kids in school get bullied, can't nobody understands them and they feel like a misfit. I'm thinking about the kid that everybody calls nerd because he's smart and he's got his nose in the books, i'm thinking of the kid that lives with racial issues, i'm thinking of the kid who has to go to school and their parents abuse them, i'm thinking of the child with a little learning disability. DUDE, YOU HAVE TO PUSH THIS BOOK THROUGH CONGRESS! IM SERIOUS. I BELIEVE EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM IT. AND HELP PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE ELSE STRUGGLING. All I can say is I commend you.WELL DONE GOOD AND FAITHFUL MAN FOR LIBERATING THOSE IN NEED. May God richly bless you for all your efforts. YOU WILL TRANSFORM LIVES!!! (Personally I think your book is very underpriced) Young man you have a heart of gold!!! I've never met you but I'm glad I met you online. Sincerely, Cynthia Sjerven. Milaca. Mn.
First off as part of an agreement, I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. I would highly recommend this to someone who is struggling with being a hsp. There is a great amount of information to learn about yourself, layer out in steps for you and reviews of what was covered in each section to help ensure you understood what the learning points were.
This book gets 5 gold stars for a concise guidebook to living a sensitive life. If you're anything like me and want a guide that is structured and to the point then this one is for you. it is well-written with relatable anecdotes to drive the points home. And it also has a guide after each section to help you apply each principle in your life. Have this in your library, you won't regret it! )
I read this for my young daughter who is hsp. As a parent it can be difficult to know how to change your parenting to account for their deep feelings and this was a very helpful tool for me. One of my goals is to try and teach her both to cope with her deep emotions but also how to see them as a beautiful gift. This was a good, short read that gave me some clear guidelines from someone who understands the way my daughter sees and feels the world. If you or a loved one is hsp than I think this is an excellent read!

Great book! It opened eyes to a reality I couldn't see before.
This book dives to heart of living life as a highly sensitive person or even someone who simply has a strong sense of empathy. The six steps given were informative and helpful as well as presented in a voice that was understanding and insightful.
As a HSP I had hoped for more from this short book. Very little of the information was useful to me. Quick read.
